Senior Managing Director
Tom Thompson is a senior executive with more than 20 years of experience in the restructuring and turnaround industry. He has a proven track record of achievements working in the creditor advisory and banking services space, as well as for businesses as they experience performance disruption and strategy decisions for the performance turnaround.
Tom has an extensive background working on both the creditor and debtor side of an engagement. He served as debtor-side financial advisor to a leading oil field services company to advise on a restructuring of their senior secured credit agreement. Tom also acted as creditor-side financial advisor to a senior secured lender to a television production company and ran a successful Article 9 foreclosure sale of the assets.
Tom has served as an expert witness in several chapter 11 cases and has also served on the board of directors of several companies post restructuring. In his over 15 years of restructuring experience, he has developed and executed corporate finance strategies for numerous distressed companies, both as a restructuring advisor and an investment banker. In these roles Tom has represented a variety of constituents in distressed transactions, such as debtors, banks / secured creditors, unsecured creditors and equity holders.
Previously, Tom worked as financial advisor to an independent sponsor in the successful acquisition of Modcloth via a corporate carve-out from Walmart. In addition, he served as debtor-side financial advisor to Group Aero Industries and successfully sold the assets to a strategic buyer via a section 363 asset sale in chapter 11. He also has served as creditor-side financial advisor to a senior secured lender in the restructuring and chapter 11 process of a leading post-production company. Before that, Tom operated as CRO of an Orange County, CA based real estate company focused on property management and DST/TIC transactions.
Tom holds a B.A. in Accounting from UCLA and was formerly a CPA.
