Ben Wilson has a strong accounting and management background, including oversight of the day-to-day financial operations of a business, as well as strategic planning and forecasting for complex multi-divisional companies. He has used his financial management experience to formalize variance and budgeting analysis, financial modeling and C level reporting.

Ben’s attention to detail makes him a valuable team member for FMG and for FMG clients. He is able to develop actionable financial analysis from complex and confusing data. He understands information is not perfect, and he works toward the best outcome for client companies and their lenders. Ben is well grounded in accounting roles and financial management, and brings that knowledge to the consulting world. He is able to look forward using historic financial information, and provide that insight to clients, their lenders, and other stakeholders. 

Prior to joining Focus Management Group, Ben has held multiple financial and accounting positions in the healthcare and revenue cycle management sectors.  He served as the Director of Accounting at a technology company, which included overseeing the month-end close process, managing receivables and working capital overall, and completing detailed purchase accounting transactions. He also explained financial results to investors who represented the board of directors, performed multi-currency intercompany reconciliations and balance sheet remeasurement, and maintained related party debt amortization tables.


As the Controller for a medical billing company, he prepared monthly financial statements and operational analysis for multiple entities for the company owners. He performed cash reconciliation and issued weekly statements for all clients. Additionally, Ben implemented various internal controls to ensure accuracy of financial reporting, created processes and work papers to ensure the accuracy of Affordable Care Act reporting, compiled cash flow projections, and implemented a staff cross-training program which created transparency and accountability. 


During his time as an Assistant Controller at a medical services company specializing in Lithotripsy, Ben prepared monthly financials for over 30 different entities and completed the month-end close process. He created a company capitalization policy for internally developed software to comply with GAAP, identified problems with internal controls and made recommendations to the CFO, prepared fixed asset depreciation and amortization schedules. Also, Ben worked with the CFO and finance department on the annual strategic plan, reviewed payroll and made corrections to 401k plan and conducted internal audit to prepare for the 401k audit, and implemented the processing of in-house payroll.


Ben also served as an Audit Associate for regional CPA firm. 


Ben earned a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Michigan State University and a Master’s of Science in Accounting, with a specialization in Internal  Auditing, from Wayne State University.
