Service:Patient Care Ombudsman
Company:Five-Entity Hospital System
A hospital system with five locations serving a diverse community, both urban and rural, in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Houston area and southeastern Texas, had three operational units, with one hospital under construction and the other undergoing reconstruction after experiencing significant damage from Hurricane Ike. The hospital had filed for protection under Chapter 11.
A Focus Professional was engaged as Patient Care Ombudsman to monitor the quality of care being provided at the hospital system during its Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
- As Ombudsman, the Focus Professional, along with Focus Management Group's assistance, closely monitored the quality of patient care and reported his findings to the Courts on a monthly basis.
- The Focus Professional also addressed various cross-disciplinary concerns within the medical system, including staffing, finances, patient identification procedures, available medications, plant operations and insurance policies.
- The health system was sold to an investor group and exited bankruptcy.
- Due to our Professional's oversight, patient care quality was assured throughout the bankruptcy process.
