This acute care general hospital was in severe financial distress. The facility did not have access to sufficient working capital and was faced with limited cash and significant debt. Subsequently, the hospital opted to file for bankruptcy and sell its assets.
Daniel McMurray, Managing Director of Focus Management Group, was engaged as Patient Care Ombudsman to the hospital to monitor the quality of patient care as the hospital went through its bankruptcy. Focus Management Group was named Medical Operations Advisor to support Dan in this role.
- As Ombudsman, Dan, with Focus Management Group’s assistance, monitored the quality of patient care that was being provided and reported his findings to the Court.
- Dan also addressed various cross-disciplinary concerns within Our Lady of Mercy, including staffing, finances, patient identification procedures, available medications, plant operations and insurance policies.
- The quality of patient care was maintained throughout the bankruptcy process.
- The hospital successfully sold its assets through the 363 sale process.
