Edmund King is a seasoned financial and operations turnaround professional with 20 years experience working with start up to Fortune 500 companies in the manufacturing, telecom, entertainment and healthcare industry. Ed has particular expertise in finance, accounting, corporate restructurings, M&A activity and strategic planning.
Prior to joining Focus Management Group, Ed served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of a financial transaction software technology company where he specialized in strategic planning, marketing, finance and acquisitions. Among his many accomplishments, he developed the company’s first strategic plan and was instrumental in raising more than $20 million. He also completed acquisitions resulting in more than $10 million in annual revenues, as well as, renegotiated more than $5 million in debt instruments that were converted to equity.
Ed also served as an interim CFO and COO for a consulting firm specializing in turnaround management, financing and strategic marketing plans. During this tenure, he effectively restructured the manufacturing process of a leading golf equipment manufacturer by sourcing all processes to overseas manufacturers, resulting in a 50% reduction in corporate overhead and a 20% increase in gross margins. Under his leadership, Ed’s team also negotiated a multiyear/multimillion dollar agreement with Viacom for Nickelodeon programming in Europe. This negotiation reduced costs by more than $2.5 million over the life of the contract.
In another role as CFO, Ed completed three mergers, multiple system conversions and three financings for a $50MM telecommunications company. Responsible for financing, accounting, SEC reporting and human resources of 120+ employees, he reduced selling, general and administrative expenses from 35% to 20% through significant reductions in total costs and a 100% increase in net revenue due to both acquisitions and internal growth.
Ed is a Certified Management Accountant. He received his MBA from Oregon State University and his Bachelors of Science Degree from California State University.
